Being green means selling products made of recycled or naturally grown materials. A good example is wooden knives and forks instead of plastic.

Being green increases sales and sale prices making it profitable business.

The maker of GLAD kitchen and garbage bags went green by claiming the bags were made of 50% recycled ocean plastic. There was even an ocean wave logo and the bags were dyed blue.

Unfortunately, all this was greenwashing, according to the consumer watchdog, the ACCC.

Greenwashing is making false or misleading environmental claims about products or services.

In this case, the plastic was recycled waste from communities up to 50 kms inland from the ocean.
